The investigation led the Office of the Special Prosecutor to conduct searches at both Ms Cecilia Dapaah's official residence in Cantonments and her private residence in Abelemkpe, Accra.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is currently conducting an investigation into suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses involving Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources in Ghana.

The inquiry centers on allegations of large sums of cash and valuable items being stolen from her residence by two house helps between July and October 2022.

Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah, who resigned from her ministerial position on July 22, 2023, was placed under arrest by the OSP on Monday, July 24, 2023. The investigation led the OSP to conduct searches at both her official residence in Cantonments and her private residence in Abelemkpe, Accra.

Two house helps, 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei, are currently facing charges at an Accra Circuit Court for conspiracy to commit a crime and five counts of stealing.

The alleged thefts occurred during the mentioned period, and the stolen items included clothes, handbags, perfumes, jewelry, Kente cloth, and men's suits, among others. Three other individuals, identified as Patience Botwe's current and former boyfriends and her father, are also facing charges for allegedly being involved in the crime.

According to the police charge sheet, Patience Botwe was caught red-handed entering the couple's room with a duplicate key, leading to her arrest. Further investigations revealed that the stolen money was used to purchase properties and expensive items.

The court has granted bail to Sarah Agyei in the sum of GH¢1 million with two sureties, while Patience Botwe and the other accused individuals have been remanded into custody. The OSP's ongoing investigation aims to provide clarity and transparency regarding the alleged theft and any potential involvement of former Minister Cecilia Dapaah.

As the investigation continues, public interest remains high, and Ghanaians eagerly await the OSP's final findings and the potential implications for all parties involved in this matter. The outcome of this case is expected to have far-reaching consequences for the perception of accountability and transparency in the country's governance and public offices.
