Rose Appiah Okyere Gets the Nod As Managing Director for Volta Lake Transport.

Acting Managing Director of Volta Lake Transport Company Limited, Mrs. Rose Appiah Okyere has officially been confirmed as the substantive Managing Director for the company. Her appointment took effect from January, 2023.

Mrs. Rose Appiah Okyere, an economist and administrator started her career with Midland Savings and Loans Limited as a Credit Controller in 2004 and later joined Volta Lake Transport Company Limited - a subsidiary of the Volta River Authority (VRA) in 2006 as a Planning Officer.

By dint of hard work, she rose through the ranks to become the manager in charge of Corporate Planning and Regulatory Affairs in 2012.

In December 2020, she was appointed as the Acting Managing Director of the Company and now confirmed as the substantive MD in January 2023.

Mrs. Rose Appiah Okyere holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Economics) from University of Cape Coast and master’s degree in Business Administration (CEMBA)from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Madam Rose is also an Alumna of Yaa Asantewaa Girls' an all female Senior High School in Ashanti Region.

She is also a member of the Institute of Directors- Ghana and have participated in several studies both home and abroad.

Ms. Rose is married to Mr. Joseph Okyere of VRA and has three lovely kids.

ABOUT VOLTA LAKE TRANSPORT COMPANY 

The Volta Lake Transport Company (VLTC), incorporated in 1970, operates river transportation for passengers, bulk haulage of petroleum products and significant quantities of cement and cross-lake ferry services along the Volta Lake. As part of VLTC’s re-evaluation of strategies to attract funding to improve its operations, it plans to overhaul its aged and faulty vessels to improve efficiency and subsequently reduce the turn-around time for its services and operations. It has also considered acquiring or leasing additional barges to increase its capacity and fleet to enable it attract a larger client base.

The VLTC also plans to engage the Government of Ghana in exploring the synergies and commercial benefits of the intended Tema-Akosombo railway line and the Eastern Corridor Multi-Modal Transport Project (ECMMTP). This is to attract new markets and business opportunities that will increase productivity in port and transit services.
