The Vice President's office collaborated with the National Football League (NFL) in 2022 to organize a special talent development program in ten selected schools across Ghana. The results were phenomenal, with ten young Ghanaians chosen to represent Africa at the prestigious 2023 Pro Bowl – a special tournament preceding the renowned Super Bowl.
Encouraged by this success, the Sports Minister expressed enthusiasm for introducing American football to school children nationwide. He highlighted the impressive performance of the young Ghanaian players, who secured a remarkable fourth place in the competition, competing alongside seasoned participants from the USA, Mexico, and Australia.
The partnership with the NFL will continue, with plans to expand the participation of schools in the upcoming second edition of the developmental NFL Flag Football Competition later this year.
This competition will once again select the best players to represent Africa at the next year's Pro Bowl, providing a platform for showcasing their talent on an international stage.
