After a brief moment of hesitation, Biden was reminded by a child that it was indeed Ireland.

Less than two weeks after returning from his trip to Ireland, U.S. President Joe Biden appeared to forget the country he had visited last, until he was reminded by a child during a Take Your Child to Work Day event at the White House on Thursday.

Biden visited Ireland in mid-April to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which brought an end to decades of violence between Irish Protestants and Catholics. However, during the event, when asked about his last foreign trip, Biden stumbled over his words and struggled to remember.

"The last country I've traveled - I'm trying to think the last one I was in - I've met with 89 heads of state so far, so, uh - I'm trying to think. What was the last - Where was the last place I was? It's hard to keep track. Um, I was - " Biden stammered.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Biden was reminded by a child that it was indeed Ireland. While some Twitter commentators found the incident amusing, others were concerned about Biden's cognitive fitness for office.

Republican Representative Darrell Issa tweeted, "Today, Biden forgot the last foreign country he visited as president. It was Ireland. Week before last. And he wants four more years?" Professional golfer Steve Flesch called it "disgraceful" and suggested that "no country respects America right now."

Others joked about Biden's struggles with being questioned by the press and his reliance on notes during public events. However, some praised the children for asking important questions and highlighting the President's shortcomings. "These kids are doing the job journalists could be doing... For free!" National Review contributor Pradheep J. Shanker tweeted.
